Announcing the Melty Migration!
Dear Melters,
It has been far too long! I am filled with joy and excitement to announce a very Melty collaboration. After being unable to return to Darrington three years in a row, it was time to think outside the box. Either throw in the towel or get creative! How can we gather as a community without a home? Well, I think I found a beautiful and fun solution for this year.
I am excited to announce that we are collaborating with the Cascade Equinox Festival in Redmond, Oregon this Sept. 20-22nd to merge our Melty goodness with this incredible community for an equinox celebration unlike anything you’ve seen before.
To answer your big question of “Is Meltdown over?”, No – it is most definitely not. This is a creative way to continue our community during this period where we do not have our own home.
This is the Melty Migration! And trust me, when the lineup begins to roll out this week, you’ll understand!
One of the key ingredients to making this decision was working out an agreement that Melters will be able to camp together in a dedicated premium campground (with the purchase of a General Admission Ticket and Premium Vehicle Pass). Additionally, we will host two Meltdown stage takeovers, featuring some of Meltdown’s most beloved acts. We will carry on the Saturday night costume theme, and we will continue to host the Meltdown Showdown in Seattle this year, offering NW bands a chance for a slot at this year’s festival. And finally, the first 500 Melters to get on board will get complimentary early access on Thursday where Meltdown will host an epic Thursday night Pre-Funk Party!

After 20 years of hosting you all and witnessing this beautiful Meltdown community come together, grow, and stay connected, I couldn’t stomach the idea of shutting it all down. Although I miss being in Darrington, the opportunity to return was not an option this year, and this is the best way we can continue for the time being.
This decision to collaborate with Cascade Equinox was carefully considered. They are a collective of grass-roots festival producers that put on Gem & Jam in Arizona, the Symbiosis events, who produce the incredible eclipse festivals around the country, and Four Peaks Music Festival, a roots-down family festival in Bend, OR. Together, we are all cut from the same cloth and this collaboration aligns beautifully with the Meltdown ethos.
The venue in Oregon is a gorgeous County fairgrounds which allows for huge covered late night venues, art installations, a roller skating rink, grassy campgrounds, nearby hotels, and an airport to fly into if you so choose.
Bend/Redmond, Oregon is a beautiful part of the country and a national hub for recreation. Celebrating the Fall Equinox together and embracing the transition of the season and the ever-changing nature of our lives while basking in community, music and art feels really important and is the motivation behind this Melty Migration to Cascade Equinox.
It would be a great honor to see our Meltdown community integrate with this family and bring with us all the love and good energy that has been cultivated over the years.
There is so much more to talk about, but first we’ll roll out the beginnings of the 2024 lineup this week then go from there.
With great love and respect for each and every one of you! Thank you for all the years of magic!
Josh
